Cadillac OPTIQ Model Research

With increasing focus on global warming and renewable energies, automakers around the world now feature models in their showrooms with alternative drivetrains, moving away from the traditional internal combustion engine that has been dominant for over 100 years.
Electric vehicles, whether hybrid, plug-in hybrid (PHEV), or fully electric (EV), contribute to reducing reliance on finite fossil fuel reserves and promoting the shift toward renewable energy sources.
Cadillac's brand-new OPTIQ model joins the three-vehicle lineup of Cadillac's fully electric models as its new entry-level offering.
This latest all-electric small Cadillac SUV seats five passengers and shares its platform and all-wheel-drive powertrain with other GM products, but it comes with the upscale luxury features expected from a vehicle bearing the iconic Cadillac badge.
Cadillac OPTIQ vs. The Competition
The Cadillac OPTIQ model, the smallest electric SUV in the lineup, completes the automaker's full EV offering. With experience in the fully electric SUV segment, Cadillac understands what its customers want.
The OPTIQ makes a strong entrance with its luxury materials, extensive color options, and an exclusive feature in this segment-Cadillac's Super Cruise. This all comes packaged in a vehicle that sets new standards for passenger and cargo space in its class.
So, who are the OPTIQ's competitors? First, it faces internal competition from the slightly larger and more expensive LYRIQ model. Within the GM family, the Chevrolet Equinox EV also competes with the OPTIQ, sharing its platform and drivetrain but featuring 100% Cadillac design DNA.
Other rivals in this space include the Volvo C40 Recharge, Volvo XC40 Recharge, Genesis GV60, Mercedes-Benz EQB, and Tesla's popular small SUV, the Model Y, along with the higher-priced Audi Q4 E-Tron.
Learn About the Cadillac OPTIQ
As mentioned, the OPTIQ model shares its platform with the Chevrolet Equinox EV but adds Cadillac's signature luxury touches. EV technology in the OPTIQ includes a drivetrain powered by two electric motors, producing a combined 300 horsepower, and a segment-leading 85.0-kWh battery pack that delivers up to 300 miles of driving range per charge.
The vehicle features all-wheel drive, and technology such as Regen on Demand allows the driver to use a steering wheel paddle to brake and recharge the battery while slowing down. The OPTIQ also offers a one-pedal driving feature, which brings the vehicle to a complete stop once the accelerator pedal is released.
Thanks to its advanced chassis with frequency-selective Passive-Plus premium dampers, the OPTIQ provides a quiet and smooth ride.
In line with the focus on renewable energy, the interior features woven textile upholstery made from recycled materials. The seating is available in four interior color options: a terracotta-like Autumn Canyon, Phantom Blue, black and gray, and all-black.
The infotainment system is top-notch, as expected in a luxury small SUV, boasting a massive 33-inch digital dashboard screen with 9k resolution and a premium audio system.
