How to Use Cadillac Remote Start

Cadillac Key fob

Modern vehicles are being equipped with more and more convenience features to make life easier and allow us to keep up with our busy lives.

One such convenience feature in new Cadillac models is the remote start feature that allows drivers to remotely start their vehicle's engine using either the key fob or the myCadillac mobile app.

Let's take a closer look at what this feature offers owners and how to use the Cadillac remote start feature.

What is Cadillac Remote Start?

Before such features became available, we may have asked ourselves, "Why do we need this?" Well, now that such features are available in most modern luxury vehicles, we've come to expect all the convenience they provide.

The convenience of starting our cars remotely so we can warm up the interior before getting in on a freezing winter morning cannot be ignored.

Owners residing in extremely hot and desert-like conditions can easily see that in-car temperatures quickly soar over 100°F while parked in direct sunlight. What's not to like about the convenience of getting your car started and the air conditioning running to cool things down before climbing in?

How Does Cadillac Remote Start Work?

The working of Cadillac's remote start is pretty simple.

The driver needs only to use the physical key fob up to a distance of around 50 feet, typically the same range as for locking or unlocking the vehicle, to send a signal from the key fob similar to the lock/unlock function to the car to initiate the startup.

Drivers can also do the same by making use of the myCadillac mobile app to start their car.

How to Use Remote Start in Your Cadillac

Safety first as always: Cadillac remote start should not be used when your vehicle is parked in an enclosed, unventilated garage, and always check your local regulations for any remote start restrictions.

To start the vehicle with remote start involves a few simple steps.

  1. Drivers must first find the looping arrow button on the key fob before pressing the button twice.
  2. Your Cadillac's turn signals will flash to confirm the remote start has worked.
  3. Once you have entered your vehicle, drivers must press the brake pedal and power button to start driving.

Your Cadillac will turn off after 20 minutes unless you stop the remote start before then or the vehicle is turned on. If this doesn't work, you should check the battery.

The remote start can be used for up to a total time of 40 minutes before needing a reset. The feature is reset when the car is started and turned off again.

Cadillac Models with Remote Start

All the latest models are equipped with Cadillac remote start functionality as standard.

Owners can easily check this by looking at their key fob. Cars equipped with this feature will have a special button with the remote start symbol, usually an arrow making a partial circle.
