Cadillac's IntelliBeam is just one of the many great convenience and safety features found on their luxury vehicles.

The system monitors lighting conditions and other surrounding traffic conditions and can automatically turn your Cadillac high beams on and off as needed.

Read on as we learn more about how to turn on IntelliBeam headlights.

Understanding IntelliBeam Functionality

It's not a bad idea to learn more about your Cadillac's convenience features, which are designed to make your journey safer.

How IntelliBeam Works

IntelliBeam will automatically turn the vehicle's high-beam headlamps on and off according to surrounding traffic conditions using sensors.

The IntelliBeam feature will only function at speeds of over 25 mph.

Differences Between IntelliBeam and Standard Headlights

While standard headlights require manual activation and deactivation of the high beams, the IntelliBeam feature will do this automatically once the system is switched on.

How to Turn On IntelliBeam Headlights

Learn just a few simple steps and you will know how to turn on IntelliBeam headlights.

Locating the Headlight Control

Some Cadillac models' headlight controls are on the exterior lamp control, while some newer Cadillac models may have the headlight controls and settings in the infotainment system.

Turning on the Vehicle's Headlights

Once the headlight control is located, turn the exterior lamp control to Auto. Depending on the Cadillac model, you may find a button on the turn signal lever that must be in the neutral position. Then, you can press the button or push the turn signal lever forward and back twice within a few seconds.

If your Cadillac headlight settings need to be activated through the infotainment system, navigate to the Virtual Controls app, then tap lights and turn the Auto High Beams feature on.

Activating IntelliBeam Feature

Your Cadillac's engine must be running and the headlamps switched to low beams before setting to Auto using any of the above-shared steps.

Once the IntelliBeam feature is active, an indicator, such as a green "A" or a white AUTO icon, will illuminate the instrument cluster when the low beams are on.

A blue high beam symbol will illuminate in the dashboard panel when IntelliBeam activates the high beams.

Adjusting Settings (if applicable)

The IntelliBeam system functions automatically once set. To disable the feature, drivers will need to switch to the high/low beam changer or use flash-to-pass.

Tips for Using IntelliBeam Effectively

Drivers should be aware that the IntelliBeam function may not function effectively in the following instances: the oncoming vehicle's lamps are missing, damaged, or obstructed from view due to dirt, snow, or road spray.

Dense fog, snow, road spray, mist, or smoke will also affect the correct functioning of the feature. Ensure that the light sensor itself, located on your windshield, is not obstructed by dirt or a crack.

The sensor may not pick up oncoming traffic over hilly terrain, so it's best to use the manual headlamp control.
