Lane Keep Assist: Cadillac Safety Feature

Cadillac Steering Wheel

Cadillac's comprehensive suite of safety features and driver assistance aids includes Lane Keep Assist, which helps drivers avoid wandering out of their current driving lane.

Read on as we take a close look at how the Lane Keep Assist Cadillac safety feature helps you out, keeping you and your family safe on the roads.

What Is Cadillac Lane Keep Assist?

The Lane Keep Assist Cadillac safety feature prevents any potential lane departures when driving by detecting unintentional drifting out of your current lane. If necessary and if fitted, an additional Lane Departure Warning will alert you to this fact.

Cadillac Lane Keep Assist will start to function when your vehicle moves forward at approximately 31 or 37 mph and above, depending on your particular Cadillac model.

How Cadillac Lane Keep Assist Works

Cadillac Lane Keep Assist uses a forward-facing camera mounted behind your Cadillac's rearview mirror to detect the painted lane markings on the road ahead.

When determining that your vehicle is unintentionally drifting out of its lane, the feature will provide subtle steering inputs that will gently and unobtrusively guide your Cadillac back into its lane.

The Lane Keep Assist Cadillac safety feature essentially acts as a preventative measure against unintended lane departures and, if fitted with Lane Departure Warning, will also provide visual and audible warnings before taking any corrective steering action.

How to Use Cadillac Lane Keep Assist

The Cadillac Lane Keep Assist feature will automatically become active when a left or right road marking line is detected and when traveling at or over the aforementioned trigger speed.

The system's green Lane Keep Assist icon will be displayed, which looks like a vehicle with lines on either side or two lane lines, depending on your Cadillac model.

An amber Lane Keep Assist icon will be displayed in your Driver Information Center if the system anticipates any unintentional lane changes, and at the same time, a brief nudge is applied to the steering to assist in keeping your Cadillac in its lane.

The Lane Keep Assist Cadillac safety feature does not provide steering nudges or a Lane Departure Warning when a driver is intentionally crossing a lane marker without using the turn signal, unlike when actively steering.

Crossing the lane markings when using the turn signal will cancel any steering nudge and/or the Lane Departure Warning.
